Twitter gagne de plus en plus en couverture médiatique, et c’est l’occasion d’en profiter! Le Brussels Twestival est de retour, et cette fois-ci c’est pour défendre une oeuvre caritative ou une cause locale. Pour rappel, l’édition précédente visait à conscientiser les gens autour du problème de l’eau potable.

Twestival is a party that brings the social media community together to raise money for charity. It’s a great night with bands, DJs and demostrations of new ideas.

From 12 August to 12 September, people can vote on which charity projects should benefit from the funds raised. The recipients of the funding will be announced on the night.

En pratique, ça se passe le 12 septembre 2009 au Addictlab (à Bruxelles), et les tickets sont en vente via le site du Twestival. Pour plus d’information n’hésitez pas à consulter régulièrement le site ou à suivre @brutwestival sur Twitter.

Même à 6000 km chez moi je m’efforce de garder un oeil sur l’actualité belge et Bruxelloise, et je n’ai pu m’empêcher de remarquer que la Twittosphère bruxelloise était plutôt active ces dernières semaines. Et effectivement, ça semble bouger pas mal autour de l’organisation de l’édition locale du Twestival 2009.

Celle-ci aura lieu le 12 février à 16h30 au Botanique. Au programme de la version bruxelloise:

3 Bands, 1 DJ, 1 unconference, ONE big party. You choose your ticket price. Discuss Social Media for Social Change from 5pm, then party to Cachaï (www.cachai.be), NÔ (www.no-theband.be) , Amatorski (www.amatorski.be) and DJ Jooles from 8pm-1am.

J’avais été contacté par Amanda (l’instigatrice du projet) et Christian De Neef (coordinateur de l’évènement pour la Belgique) pour participer aux préparatifs, mais mon voyage au Québec ne m’a malheureusement pas permis d’y prendre part. Mais je tenais néanmoins à évoquer ce superbe projet qu’est le Twestival:

Tweet. Meet. Give.

On 12 February 2009 175+ cities around the world will be hosting Twestivals which bring together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.

By rallying together globally, under short timescales, for a single aim on the same day, the Twestival hopes to bring awareness to this global crisis.

charity: water is a non profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations by funding sustainable clean water solutions in areas of greatest need.

Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease, and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.

Ce projet est la preuve que Twitter n’est pas qu’un outil pour geeks et professionnels de la communication. C’est aussi (et surtout) un gigantesque réseau d’êtres humains, capables de penser et de se mobiliser pour une bonne cause! J’espère que le Twestival aura beaucoup de succès et que certains s’en inspireront pour lancer d’autres projets à vocation sociale.

Je vous invite tous à participer et à soutenir ce projet, parce qu’il en vaut vraiment la peine. N’hésitez-pas à aller jeter un oeil au site et suivre @brutwestival (le hashtag pour l’évènement est #twestival) pour vous tenir au courant.

C’est dans le cadre du World Usability Day qu’Emakina organise le Belgian Usability Day 2008. Ca se passera à Bruxelles le 13 novembre, au Best Western Premier Sodehotel La Woluwe (Avenue E. Mounier 5, 1200 Brussels). Le tout est gratuit mais il faut s’inscrire car le nombre de places est limité.

Le programme n’est pas encore annoncé, mais ça ne saurait tarder. D’ici là, n’hésitez pas à envoyer votre candidature si vous désirez présenter quelque chose à la conférence!

Je pensais écrire un compte-rendu complet de l’évènement, mais j’avoue que le temps me manque. N’hésitez cependant pas à aller jeter un oeil chez Philip Young, Richard Bailey, Kris Hoet et Neville Hobson, qui ont bien résumé les deux jours et demi de conférences. J’ai trouvé tout ça très stimulant et je suis déjà impatient d’être l’année prochaine. En attendant, un wiki a été ouvert afin de prolonger les réflexions entamées lors du symposium. Vous y trouverez les vidéos, présentations, réflexions et adresses de blogs des participants. Trois vidéos sont également disponibles sur Youtube.

Une dernière petite update avant le symposium de cette fin de semaine.

The programme committee has been working hard to bring together an exciting and dynamic line up for the Symposium. There have been a few changes on the way but we believe everyone will agree that we have pulled together something rather special.

We promised a challenging dialogue between cutting edge practice and the latest academic thinking and looking at the names assembled here we can be confident that EuroBlo 2008 is set to exceed expectations.

Faute de temps, je ne poste que très peu de billets ces dernières semaines. Je continue néanmoins ma veille technologique et communicationnelle, et je la partage avec vous sur mon del.icio.us. Le blog publie aussi automatiquement un billet quotidien reprenant les derniers liens ajoutés (ça permet d’avoir un aperçu rapide des nouveautés).

La première ébauche de programme du EuroBlog2008 Brussels Symposium vient d’être publiée. Pour rappel, cet évènement se déroulera du 13 au 15 mars dans les batiments de l’IHECS, à Bruxelles. Les thèmes proposés pour cette édition 2008 sont les suivants:
